Lawson Valentine Foundation

This is another foundation I wasn’t aware of but I’ve heard of their grantees. They fund food system change, primarily in the Northeast. Though they give small grants ($10,00 - $15,000), they seem to understand the importance of fixing the food system.
MISSION: To support advocacy, organizing policies, and leadership development. To do this it includes food systems such as local sustainable agriculture, food sovereignty or workers’ rights in environmental justice.

Neesha’s Notes
Community and systems change are the common threads that runs through all their grantees:
Grantee The Carrot Project supports agricultural businesses, securing their futures by breaking down financial barriers, and build their path to sustainability.
Grantee Fresh New London builds momentum for food system change through community-based agriculture and youth empowerment.
FOR GRANTMAKERS
The biggest unlock for regenerative agriculture lies in creating consumer demand. Once the market sends the right signal, farmers will do the right thing. If you have experience in the retail, CPG, or any other consumer-facing industry, your philanthropy, and your expertise are equally important. It would be a way to make an exponential impact in mitigating climate risk to the food system.
