Some days, problems like climate change feel like big, looming crises with no tangible solutions in sight.
The gloom and doom headlines are enough to make you want to retreat to your bed with a tub of ice cream. Been there. Done that. (Don’t recommend it.)
I have a better idea.
Replace eco-anxiety with a climate legacy you’re proud to hand to future generations.
The entrepreneurs and innovators I’m honored to advise, spend more time searching for visionary funders than on their mission-critical work.
This does not make much sense.
The planet is literally on fire.
One timely philanthropic gift can often make ALL the difference.
But only an estimated 2% of all philanthropic capital goes to climate change (ClimateWorks Foundation).
That’s a shocking statistic.
Climate change is already wreaking havoc on the planet even though shovel-ready solutions exist:
IMMEDIATE: They can be deployed right away to build climate resilience at a local/regional level.
LEVERAGED: They have many co-benefits from job creation to drought and fire risk reduction.
NETWORK EFFECTS: Many of them set in motion nature’s own positive network effects.
Funding climate solutions — it’s an incredible feeling.
But let’s be clear: there are no silver bullets.
Each solution is complex and nuanced, and there are often tough trade-offs to be made.
There is no room for greenwashing.
